Bondi Sands Strives to be Beach and Ocean Friendliest Beauty Company In honor of World Oceans Day 2019, Austalian born beauty company reached out to support the grassroots environmental nonprofit, Ocean Blue. Bondi Sands donated to support beach cleanups and showed up in style to clean Venice Beach, California. Ocean Blue had the pleasure of cleaning the beach with Christy who is now working on earning a mermaid certification to inspire young ocean stewards. Together, the group removed a total of approximately 100 pounds including:
● 18 pounds of tiny microplastics and plastic cutlery ● 15 pounds of various paper products. ● 25 pounds of socks, underwear, used condoms ● 6 pounds of plastic lids. ● 12 pounds of plastic cups and water bottles ● 8 pounds of cigarette butts. ● Food waste like half cut limes and orange peels ● A piece of road tar
The Australian-based company, Bondi Sands has set out to make the ultimate tan achievable through salon quality formulas that keep the sun from damaging your skin. Both Ocean Blue and Bondi Sands were founded in 2012 and less than a decade later the two have joined missions to protect our oceans, starting with coral reefs.
Bondi Sands has plans to launch a reef-safe sunscreen along with goals to use recycled ocean plastic in packaging. Reef safe sunscreens do not use chemicals oxybenzone, octinoxate, octocrylene, 5-methylbenzylidene camphor, PABA, Parabens, Triclosan, any nano-sized particles called nano-particles of zinc or titanium, and any form of microplastic exfoliating beads.
Inspired by Australia’s most iconic beach, the brand now has over 60 self-tan, sun care, and body care products worldwide.
