The California coastline is 840 miles in long and has more than 420 public beaches. The warmest beach in California is in Newport California with temperatures of 71 degrees in August as the Santa Catalina Island typically warms up to 70 degrees. The warmest beach in the winter can be found in Long Beach with an annual average temperature of 65 degrees. For surfing warm waters in the winter is Avila Beach, Long Beach, and Laguna Beach can have temperatures above 67 degrees in December and January.
Hottest summer beaches in California can be found in Long Beach in July, August and even September or try traveling south which offers plenty of warm summer beach vacation spots. The temperatures can rise above 70 degrees during the summer the warm locations are Laguna Beach, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Big Sur, Santa Cruz, and Avila Beach.
