Boxed Water, the first national brand of sustainably packaged water, continues its mission of bettering the planet through both its package and its partnerships. The brand announces a new partnership with Ocean Blue Project (OBP), a non-profit organization focused on protecting and conserving the world’s oceans through beach and river cleanups. In partnership with OBP, Boxed Water will be completing more than 30 beach cleanups with a goal of cleaning 3,000 miles of beaches. Additionally, Boxed Water has extended its partnership with the National Forest Foundation (NFF) to reach and surpass its goal of planting 1 million trees. The partnership is extended for another two years. “A commitment to care for our planet is behind everything we do here at Boxed Water — from the inspiration of our product, to the ways we minimize our carbon footprint, to replanting forests and cleaning our precious beaches,” said Rob Koenen, chief marketing officer at Boxed Water. “Through our partnership with the NFF and Ocean Blue Project, we join a community of like-minded people, brands and associations that want to do better for our planet.”
Continued Koenen, “Nearly 8 million metric tons of plastic washes into our oceans on a yearly basis. The damage from this plastic affects our wildlife, our ecosystem, and even our health. At Boxed Water, we’re trying to address this issue by providing small choices that make a big impact.” The partnerships with Ocean Blue Project and the National Forest Foundation are facilitated by 1% For The Planet, a membership organization pairing for-profit businesses with non-profit partners. In April, Koenen spoke at the 1% For The Planet Global Summit to share the successes of its partnership with the NFF and the Better for our Planet campaign. For each post to social media with Boxed Water and the hashtag #BetterPlanet, the organizations will plant two trees.
Through its partnership with the NFF, Boxed Water has committed to planting more than 660,000 trees in US forests affected by wildfire and disease. To date, their trees have been planted in the Deschutes National Forest, the Custer-Gallatin National Forest, the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, and the Stanislaus National Forest.
With Ocean Blue Project, Boxed Water will sponsor beach cleanups throughout the United States. Together, the organizations will give consumers a way to reduce ocean and beach pollution – by cleaning and by reducing the use of plastic items. All collected plastic is recycled or upcycled into reusable products.
